My son Shannon Custer is blessedly home again with his family. Shannon has been graced for the last year and two months in his healing and growing relationship with our Lord. But it is always difficult to face another change and to come back into circles of former associates who are not the right influence; to find that courage in the Lord to turn away and stay close to our protector and banner. Please continue prayers for Shannon's courage to face and close off his past and stand strong in His God to light his path for the future. Our precious granddaughters still call me at night to let me know their "daddy" is still here Na-Na.

I would like to ask the community to pray for OB Goolsby
and his family. He is in a San Antonio Hospital, he suffered
a severe stroke. He is a long time friend of my family and
they are a very strong Christian family and they are in need
of our prayers. I know that prayer works and I know there
are many prayer warriers in this community. God is the
Greatest Physician. Thank you so much for your prayers.

Please pray for my friend and mother of Alex's best friend -- Michelle Blackshear, her husband Ricky and 14-year-old son Keegan. She found out just before Thanksgiving (and around her 40th birthday) that she has breast cancer. She will have a double mastectomy Thursday, Nov. 29. This is her 3rd bout with cancer. The first was Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 22 and then Leukemia seven years ago. The breast cancer is a result of the chemo from the lymphoma. She is a Christian and her faith in prayers from other warriors is comforting to her and her family. I know how well NET Emmaus prayers work, so please pray for the surgeons and medical staff to be one their toes. Baylor has set up a website for her where you can read her story and updates or contact her if you would like. I know the prayers and support are comforting to them at this time. Thanks for your prayers for strength, comfort and perseverence for them all. Right now everything hasn't sunk in and they know darker days are to come.

the chest this past week, but praise God his vest stopped

your prayer list. Thanks you all so much. God bless!

Rev. Tommy Earl Burton #98-33

This is a prayer of Thanksgiving to all of you who are
continuing to pray for my son, Devin Bennett, who is
serving in Iraq. He just surprised me with an 18 day
leave, and he looked like a MILLION dollars. He was
home from October 28 through November 16. He was
ready to return to his duty station and continue his
service which made it easier (although it wasn't):) to
put him on that return flight. Thank you so very much
for your past and future prayers for him and all those
who are serving our country.

I just wanted to thank each one of you who prayed for my daughter, Madison,
who recently had eye surgery. She is doing fantastic. She was able to hold
her head up high when she walked into school. She has a testimony
now...about prayer, forgiveness and FAITH. Please continue to keep her in
your prayers, the surgery did not help the temporary "blackouts" that she is
experiencing, and so she needs to see a Neurologist.

Please put Holly Brewer and Ronnie Melton in your prayers for speedy and
complete recovery. Holly Brewer had a double masectomy almost 2 weeks ago
and Ronnie Melton had a triple by-pass a little over a week ago. Holly was

the men's walk in October.

This prayer request is a follow-up for prayer request submitted for Sheila
Temples in May 2007. There has not been a follow up report on her condition.
Sheila was the first person to introduce me to Emmaus. Bonnie Cox was the
person who blessed me to take my walk in November 2003. I love both of
these women of God dearly and am especially concerned about them. Please
pray special prayers for Bonnie Cox and her family. Bonnie had two brothers
to die recently and a third brother who has been given a poor prognosis with
only a short life expectancy. Emmaus family, we know that our God is able
to do the exceeding, abundantly above all that we may ask or think according
to His power that is at work in us! I just believe that God is yet in the
healing business according to our faith! His word says, "Be it unto you
according to your faith!" God Bless each of you.

I have friends in Austin who delivered their first child-a baby
boy-Thursday. He needs our prayers. I've copied some verbiage from an email
that explains what is happening with the baby. Thank you so much for taking
the time to read this as well as pray!

The baby's lungs are covered in meconium..."Meconium has various stages and
seriousness. On a scale of 1 to 5 this one is a 5. Davis (baby)is becoming
sicker by the day and it will take a while for him to get over this initial
hump. He has what they call aspiration pneumonia. Although air can still
get through it is much harder. This is causing the capillaries (I think this
is the right one) to close up and restrict flow. They are giving him nitrous
in order to relax these so that blood can flow easier. This also has lead
to little Davis's heart to try and pump harder causing Pulmonary
Hypertension. This happens when the heart tries to pump too hard. The heart
pumps to two places, one is to the body and the othe is the lungs. The
heart also realizes the path of least resistance and takes that path. By
taking the path to his body he is missing out on valuable oxygen going to
his bloodstream via the lungs. This is the reason they are giving him oxygen
(currently at 100%). With all of this being said the outlook is very
positive. They have Davis on one heart medication at this time and he is
responding in a positive way. The nurses have adjusted the oxygen and
nitrous levels and are becoming very familiar with what his body likes as
they make minor adjustments. I also would like to say that even with all of
these positive factors he will have to be in the hospital for at least 30
days. I know this may seem like a long time but he is in the best hospital
in the region and everything looks very promising."

I'm writing once again to request prayer for the Covey family. Kim has been
diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer, which is not uncommon.
Unfortunately, it is sometimes hard to see, and has a tendency to have
fingers that are impossible to find. So, a lumpectomy is not a wise option.
She'll have a mastectomy (single) on 1/22 at Baylor in Dallas. They won't
know the stage until after the surgery, but they are predicting it is about
a stage two and the surgeon's nurse told us, "we have no reason to believe
you won't do fabulous." Once she heals from the surgery, she'll have 3-4
months of chemo, one day every three weeks. Please keep her and the kids in
your prayers. Tom hasn't even been gone 2 months, and this family has been
through more than their fair share of grief in the last year. Kim has a
very postive outlook, and the cancer is highly treatable, but she vey much
appreciates everyone's prayers and concern. Will keep you posted.

Update on Jeff Carpenter in Las Vegas hospital:
He has improved by leaps and bounds. He came out of coma a few days ago
and is sitting up, getting drain tubes, vent, and I.V.'s removed. They are
moving him from ICU to an intermediate room. He is responding to commands
and even tossed a ball for the nurses. God is good!

I wanted to update the prayer request for my Dad, Randy Cofield. He is
doing better, although still in the hospital. He is in the final stages of
his cancer, with only a very short time before he is called to Heaven. He

every day that he has left. Please continue to pray for Daddy, that he
will be without pain and suffering and will continue to know His peace.

Re: Jeff Carpenter & Family
I am so happy to share that God has been at work in Las Vegas for us. After
contacting the Emmaus community there...they have really taken over for
us... please read the following update "They" posted on the Carpenter
family......

Hi Warriors, I was able to meet and bring some gift cards to Sherry and
Beverly today from the generous family of Christ. What a wonderful set of
gals. They are holding up well and are grateful for all the prayers, as well
as the gift cards. There was an offer of hospitality extended today from a
gal that lives close to UMC for them to stay at her house for the duration
of their time here in LV. Sherry & Beverly are going to pray about this and
call the lady in the morning. So if it's God's will for them to stay with
Lynn let HIM put it on their hearts boldly. They are just overwhelmed with
all the love and generosity being poured out to their family.

Jeff is in a coma with severe head trauma and he has some lacerations on
his insides but the doc's can't do anything about those till the swelling in
his brain subsides, so please pray for a healing of the swelling and for the
Mighty Physician to do what HE does best, hold him in his arms till Jeff
heals physically and spiritually. Pray for the doc's and nurses to keep up
the great job of making the family feel informed and honored. They said
they've had the best nursing care and are very happy with UMC's staff.

Prayer is the most important thing we all can do for them at this point,
healing-strength-perseverance-faith in a God that only does what is best for
us...pray for trust for all of them to know that God knows what he's doing.
Thank you all so very much for your intercession for and loving on the
Carpenter family.

Please pray for our Emmaus brother Wesley Williams of Paris, Tx.(Ronnie
Melton's brother). He is on the transplant list for a new kidney in Dallas
and Tyler. He has been on dialisis three times a week for over a year.
Since he is O+ blood type, he can only receive O+, which makes the search
more narrow. Please pray he moves up on the list in Tyler as it is a shorter
list.

Please be in prayer for Shawn Akins. I don't remember her walk. She is my
sister-in-law. She and her son and daugter were in a car accident Monday
afternoon. The kids were bumped and bruised but Shawn sustained a fractured
neck and ankle. Her neck is stable and will not need surgery. Her ankle
was pretty much destroyed. She had surgery Monday night to somewhat
stablize her ankle and insure blood supply to her foot and she is scheduled
for surgery again next Friday to stablize the bones. She needs prayers for
strength to sustain her during this long recovery as well as restoration and
healing. Thanks for the love and support that is always a comfort from this
community.

Brenda Potts Walk 01-50

Please pray for my uncle and his wife, Charles and Joan Roberts. She lost
both of her parents in a car accident on Thursday evening. Her father was a
retired physician in Mt. Pleasant, well known to alot of us. Her mother
was an awesome artist. They will both be missed very much but I know that
they are with your heavenly father and the important thing is that they are
together. Thanks for your prayers during this difficult time for them.

As my brothers and sisters in Christ have done so many times before, I ask
for prayers for my son Shannon Custer. He has been incarcerated and will
spend 14 months in a unit similiar to Johnston at Winnsboro. I know this
will be a blessing at the end of the journey but the trip will be difficult
for him and his family. We especially need prayers for our two beautiful
grandchildren, Madison who is 11, and Camryn who is 7; they are fragile with
his long anticipated absence from the home; very scared right now. God
bless all of you and have the very happiest of holidays and celebration for
our greatest gift, the Christ child.

Joe Parker, Walk NET #94-6, has experienced health complications (some severe) for many years. Joe was being evaluated for a liver transplant at Baylor/Dallas; however, cancer independent of the liver was discovered making him not able to meet the criteria to be a liver transplant recipient. Joe has had 2 rounds of chemo. Yesterday (Monday 12/4), he was unable to take chemo because of blood counts. He was given 2 units of blood. Thank you for your prayers and your never-ending Christian love for us. Your prayers have sustained and will continue to sustain us in the trying weeks ahead.

I got the results back from my second MRI. The neurologist says that the
little spot is gone! Praise God! I now have to have tests run with another
specialist in Dallas to rule out any seizure activity. I will not be able to
drive until I have been cleared of any possible seizure activity. Thank you
all for your prayers! We are praising God for the wonderful news! Thank you
all so much for your prayers and your continued prayers as I get these new
tests run. God bless!

Tom Covey was admitted to Baylor hospital this afternoon. He has an
infection and some problem with his intestine that they have yet to
determine what it is. He was in a great deal of pain, but they have him
sedated now and he is in and out. The doctor was very honest with them, and
he probably won't recover. Kim is pretty upset. I don't know about the
kids. They are at Tom's mother's right now. The family is just hoping for
some quality time in the next few days. They covet your prayers.

Please add me to your prayer list. I had an MRI done about a month ago, and
was told everything was alright. I followed up with a Neurologist yesterday,
and he found a small grey area that concerns him. I am scheduled for another
MRI on November 6th. I will update everyone when these results get in. He
said that it was probably nothing, but if it is something it has been found
early. Thank you so much for your prayers! God bless!

One of the pilgrims scheduled for the October Men's Walk is in need of our
prayers. Curtis Coffman from Texarkana, has been hospitalized due to some
fluid around or near his heart. Today (Monday) they did a biopsy to check
on lymphoma -- which is what his dad died from a couple of years ago. He
won't hear official results until sometime tomorrow, but the pathologist
painted a grim picture today. Please pray fervently for Curtis' body and
spirit to be completely healed! We all know God is still in the miracle
business and Curtis needs to see one! Curtis is a teacher in Texarkana at
TMS. If you would like to send Curtis some encouraging thoughts and words,
you may email him through his sponsor at christa.kimble@leisd.net. May God
magnify our prayers!

so worried. There is something about this man Judy (the mother) does not

Tom Covey's cancer has doubled in size in the last two weeks. His prognosis
is not good. There is one treatment that is available that is experimental.
He is going to try that, and it could give him 3 months--6 would be a
miracle. Without it, he has about 3 weeks. The family is doing remarkably
well, but covet your prayers in the weeks ahead. We'll know more how folks
can help next week. Thanks for your never ending love and support. It is
being felt.

Please pass this on to those you know who will pray for my son, Jon Beller.  He will be having testing done today at Baylor Medical Center, Truett Building, Dallas, around 1:00 PM.  He's been having trouble with his stomach and I am asking that you keep him and the doctors in your prayers tomorrow...he will be having a colonoscopy and an EGB ( I don't know what that is).  Thank you for your faithfulness and we appreciate your loving prayers and concern.

Our sister in Christ, Emily Bobbitt (03-68), has asked me to ask you to pray for her grandfather, Albert Hersom.  He has found out that one of his carotid arteries is blocked 100% and the other is almost 100%.  He will see the doctor tomorrow to find out what the next step will be in correcting this condition.  Emily is to let me  know when the surgery will be, and says thank you in advance for your faithful prayers for her grandfather.  I will send an update when I hear from her.

Please add Sylvia Clarida Wilson to our Community prayer list.  She will have a CAT scan and biopsy on Monday morning, July 31st at St. Michael's in Texarkana.  Sylvia has been told that she has cancer, but through the testing, they are hoping to determine the site and the extent.  Her faith is strong, but I know that it would mean so much to her to know that the Emmaus Community, that she loves so much, is praying for her.  She and Andy married just 2 weeks ago and are now living in Naples.  She will need our encouragement and we know,  "He hears the prayers of the righteous...."

Our sister in Christ, Arlene Cannon (02-61) just called me to ask for your prayers for her brand new baby grandson.  His name is Eric Kyle Waterman, and he was born yesterday, July 9, 2006 in Dallas.  Eric has developed swelling on the left side of his body, and the doctors will begin some testing tomorrow to determine the cause.  Please keep Eric (beautiful baby boy), Arlene and Roy (the grandparents), Marie and Steve (the parents), Isaac (the 5 year old big brother), and the doctors in your prayers.  Hopefully, Arlene will call me tomorrow to let me know what the results are.  Thank you for your faithfulness and love,

Thank you all for your prayers.  Please keep them flowing.  The doctor and staff at MD Anderson were very knowledgable, and spent a lot of time with us.  The chief of radiology at MDA looked at Tom's latest MRI films, and determined that his brain tumor has stayed the same since last month's films were taken.  They call his tumor "stable" at this point, and although shrinkage of the tumor is what we need, it's a blessing that it has not grown.  He has another MRI in 2 months.  He will continue 5 days per month of chemo for as long as it works and for as long as he can tolorate it.  We are staying in touch with the MD Anderson doctors to hopefully find a clinical trial that could give Tom more time.  The doctor told us that the average time people live with this type of tumor is one year.  He expects Tom to live about 2 years because he is young and otherwise healthy.  We know that God is the one who will ultimately decide.  We are sad, but learning to trust God, and grow in courage and faith.  Today, we told our children how things stand.  It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.  We are learning that every day is a blessing.  Live them fully.
